UCLA 26th Annual JazzReggae Fest- Jam Day

Yes, another post about another festival… And I’m only getting started.

Not many people know that UCLA’s annual JazzReggae Fest is entirely student-run, except for the advisors who oversee the logistics of it all. The UCLA Cultural Affairs Commission, which is staffed exclusively by undergrads (and the occasional grad), hosts the beast of a festival every sunny Memorial Day Weekend, featuring headliners that draw large crowds (like Raphael Saadiq, Erykah Badu, and this year, The Roots and Shaggy). It’s such a great production, you forget that it’s students who book the grade-A talent, who recruit and coordinate the huge team of volunteers, who employ the help of sponsors and donors… It amazes me each time I go.

Man, I love UCLA.
