Has it really only been 5 years since we met at UCLA? It feels more like we grew up together in the same neighborhood and had the same classes since kindergarten. Now, we’re in our mid-twenties which is the time to take the leap, so pick one: New York, Chicago, or London?
For nostalgia’s sake, these are a few of my favorite memories from our history together… And I’m so looking forward to thousands more!
Love you, G! Happy 24th! CYP.
This is an incredibly late repost of a YouTube video I did with my good friend Bryant, to whose channel you should definitely subscribe! For one of his early Fun Friday installations, we played what he dubbed the Thesaurus Challenge, a game inspired by a great episode of “Friends” where Joey tries to write an intelligent recommendation letter to the adoption agency. Had a ton of fun playing the game, as you can tell from all the giggle fits – try it with a friend!
It’s been a little more than a week since my sister got married, and I’m officially having withdrawals from the high-stress and high-energy weeks leading up to it. My body has slowly been recovering via deep, deep sleep, mid-day naps, and zoning out with SimCity, but my mind somehow misses the mental stress of running around and helping coordinate and putting together last-minute favor bags and brainstorming how to fix a ruined batch of bridesmaids bouquets an hour before the ceremony. But I went through all that mental stress with a fun group of women, and they made it all worth it.
To the awesome bridesmaids of the Miragliotta wedding – Yvette, Maye, Angela, Janina, and the maid of honor Jimlyn – I love you all! We helped make Jenny and Dave’s day so amazingly special, and I couldn’t imagine doing it without you! And all the credit for creative vision goes to Jenny herself – all the decorations you see in the photos and video were her brainchildren: the pom poms, the pinwheels, the hair, the makeup, the flower arrangements, the adorable cake topper she made with Dave… If you need some weddings ideas, you should give her a call!

Congratulations to my princess sister and her prince – I wish you a happy and loving marriage!!
The weekend of all weekends finally passed, and now I have a new brother-in-law! Really, though, he’s been our brother for quite some time now so all we were waiting for was Jenny to put a ring on it 🙂 And get to it on the babies so I can have a niece/nephew to read Jane Austen to… Or J.R.R. Tolkien, whichever they might prefer.
Here are some candids encompassing some of the weekend, starting with the rehearsal at Maria’s Italian Kitchen and the bride’s last night as a single gal. Some photo creds go to Jimlyn, the beautiful MOH, and Bryant, my wonderful date for the weekend. (Professional photos to come)
Enjoy! I definitely did…
I recently discovered a coworker who lives close by, and she has been nice enough to offer carpooling to work twice now. She carpools with her son, Jared, as he conveniently goes to school where his mom works. A very funny, smart 4th grader. Tonight, I met her son, Lucas, who currently attends day care in Culver City.
Seeing the dynamics between all three of them was so much fun- they’re a very communicative family. It’s something I don’t see in my own family very often where the adults talk disproportionately less than the kids. But both kids were excited to see their mom after a day in school and to talk about their days, or about the new Kirby game on Wii, an early Christmas gift which Mom failed to hide. Mom kept them engaged with questions and showed genuine interest in what they had to say.
And the sweetest moment I’ve experienced in a long time was after a quick moment of silence. Lucas says, “Mommy?”
“I love you.”
“Love you, too, Bubba.”
As a parent, that must be one of the biggest moments in life- when your child tells you they love you, not out of routine or obligation. But just because.
Great Monday. Beautiful LA skies and seeing a cute little kid appreciate his mother.
Hope you’ve said “I love you” to your mom or dad lately. They’d love to hear it too, just because.
Alice and the mad hatter enjoyed an awesome wedding shower/tea party at the Port Hueneme Naval Base, hosted by the Queen of Hearts. The family, including the white rabbit, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, a couple of card soldiers, and dark Alice joined the couple’s festivities preceding their big day on October 21, 2012.
