Freestyle – So Slow (cover)

Sorry for the horrible sound — this will be my reminder to get a legitimate microphone just for fun. And sorry for all the street noise (did you hear the plane?).

I’ve made it my goal this year to do more of what I really love without thinking of how bad I may be at it. Singing is one of them. While I’m not the best or have great technique, it feeds my soul and I’d like to share it with you if you’re willing to listen!

The original song is by a Pilipino band named Freestyle – check them out! And zsos is a great duo who does awesome covers – check them out too!

Jessie Ware – Wildest Moments

In the middle of it
We walk the line
Looking back on the set
Our wildest moments
Are you thinking what if
What if we ruined it all?
My wrecking ball

From the outside
Everyone must be wondering why we try
Why do we try?

Baby in our wildest moments
We could be the greatest
Baby in our wildest moments
We could be the worst of all

Key & Peele: Substitute Teacher

Sketch shows are hit or miss. You either hate ’em or you love ’em. A current favorite of mine, a constant source of time-wasting on HuluPlus, and definitely a hit: Key & Peele on Comedy Central. Understandably, I am having withdrawals from the inappropriate jokes and superb impersonations of Obama and Lil Wayne.

The show isn’t back until this coming fall, so I’m trying to alleviate my cravings with recaps of favorite skits like those of a substitute teacher from the inner city who can’t pronounce the students’ names.

Buh-lah-kay anyone?

watched germaine last night, thanks to vanilla for the free ticket (i’m not a freeloader). the movie was much more light-hearted than i thought – from the trailer, i surmised that it would be a heavy, political commentary on the powers that be. but the dialogue was clever and funny, the acting superb but never too serious. there were serious moments, of course, as it’s about a workers’ strike and a young woman and her family’s ability to cope with economic change. but jokes and laughs were interwoven throughout, which is what i loved about the film.

the film was presented by the consul general of belgium in los angeles at the aero theater in santa monica, preceding a belgian beer tasting (yum!!).

Dolphins Saved along Coast in Brazil

Save The Dolphins of the Day: When 30 dolphins suddenly became stranded on a beach in the Brazilian city of Arraial do Cabo, beachgoers rushed to help and happily managed to save every last one.

Hooray for humans!

Perhaps now the dolphins will think twice before abandoning us to face the mindless bureaucracy of the Vogons.

i cried all the way through, both sad and happy tears.
